5 Beauty Tips to Put a Spring in your Step

Spring has sprung and it’s got us thinking of how we at OneMYB freshen up our routines to greet the new season. Here are our top tips for keeping yourself tip-top as the days get longer and the skies brighten.

1. Treat yourself to a mani-pedi in the freshest colours

The catwalks have been awash with bold colour combinations for Spring/Summer 17. Bright and beautiful looks were constructed from separates in fuschia, cerulean, crimson and chartreuse at Paris, Milan and London Fashion Weeks. The key to the trend is the unabashed combinations; a breath of fresh air after the girlish, muted tones of the winter shows. A bright varnish is the perfect way to inject a shot of the season’s freshest shades into your wardrobe without appearing too fashion-forward. For extra points add accents of grey and a professional shape.

2. Spring clean your skin to rock a radiant complexion

Icy cold winds and harsh central heating lead to slathering on the moisturiser to keep our winter skin hydrated. Come spring with its warmer weather and we find ourselves in need of a deep clean to whisk away old skin and promote cell renewal. At this time of year start to look at changing up your skincare routine – switch to lighter formulations during the day and up the SPF across your products. Exfoliation is also key as the days get longer and can be great for targeting long-term issues such as acne scarring and pigmentation. Look to add a chemical exfoliant such as AHA into your daily routine and book a microdermabrasion facial for a glow that looks and feels brand new.

3. Enjoy your first slice of sun ahead of the crowd

The glamour of a full face of classic makeup and the ethereal beauty of cold-flushed cheeks on wintery skin have their place during the chillier months. However those with a fair complexion know there’s no denying the appeal of a golden glow once the warmer weather is on its way. A tan gets us into the summer spirit instantly and is a great way to look forward to the coming months. Get into the summer mood early the healthy way by faking it. Gone are the days of orange streaks and that dubious biscuit tang – new formulations give smooth, buildable coverage and a range of shades to suit all skintones. For a completely natural finish trust a professional, who can treat you with products to suit your skin type and personal style.

4. Start preparing now for a smooth summer

The winter months are spent huddled beneath layers of clothing, and keeping skin smooth and hair-free therefor often falls to the bottom of the priority list. But with summer holidays just around the corner now is the best time to start or restart your waxing routine. Waxing, unlike shaving, helps to reduce hair regrowth and over time hair becomes less noticeable – perfect for when you want to spend more time on the beach and less time in the shower shaving. Home kits are widely sold, however professional waxes are thoroughly recommended for sensitive areas and are more effective and safer for removing hair from any part of the body.

5. Pare back your brow game for a brighter outlook

Never fear, the trend for bold brows is here to stay. But you don’t have to rely on pencils and powders to get the perfect colour to frame your features. Along with an eyelash tint, having a brow tint could be the answer if you’re looking to reduce your makeup habit or curious about taking the plunge into makeup-free days. Another hot (but more adventurous) trend is for bleached brows, a treatment which gives an otherworldly but highly fashion-forward look. But don’t try this at home! It’s best to consult a professional whether tinting or bleaching brows.
